Millennium Series – Bittburg 2010
I must say, the Bittburg event for some reason always brings good weather, and good paintball conditions. This year it was about 25 degrees, and no wind. The trade stands were good, and the event went smooth. The only problem with this event, is that it is in this small town, in the middle of no where.
Also for the team this was a good event. We started to work as a team, and finding the our form.
The first game we played this weekend, was actually our last Malaga game, against Sugar Daddies from Sweden. They are a good team, and a grate bunch of guys, so it is always a pleasure to play them. At this point we had no chance to proceed to the finals, since we did horrible in the first two matches in Malaga. So we lost the game, but did not really think much of it, and focused on our games for Bittburg.
The first game on the actual Bittburg design, was against Dogs D’Amour from Greece. We knew going into this game, that it would be a tough game, since they have three dynasty players rostered ( though only two played this event, Chad George and David Williamson ) . We knew that we had to be a 100% focused going into this one, and we had to put our Malaga games behind us. And we did just that. The games went back and forth, and the score was 3-3 after the regular playing time ran out. So it went into overtime. Here David Williamson and Chad George, showed why they are pros on the states, and they won the final point, and the match 4-3. But a really good result for us, everything considered. So we went into our next matches with allot of confidence.
The next Match was on Saturday against Cyclone from Finland. This is an old team that has been around for many years, and therefore not a team that should be taken lightly. We went into the match with the same attitude, that we did against Dogs, just we had more confidence in our own game now. This turned out to be another very close match, where we just beat them 4-3. This was a real confidence booster for us, since we lost to them in Malga 4-1. And it seemed like we really had turned the tide.
Later on Saturday we had, what we considered another really hard match against Amsterdam Sabotage. They had at this point not lost one match in Division 1 that year, so we knew we had to play our very best paintball, to have a chance. On the other hand, we had also gained allot of confidence from our last two games, and we really felt strong going into this match. Also I think they underestimated us before our match, and we came at them really strong from the first point. We came out ahead from the beginning, but lost two stupid point to penalties. But after that we came back strong to take 3 points in a row, winning the match 4-2. There is a video of this match on our site as well, check it out.
The win against Sabotage put us into Sunday club at the top of our pool. And on Sunday we had to play Paris Mortifieurs. We had allot of confidence from our Friday and Saturday, and we expected this games to be pretty easy. Boy were we wrong. For some reason Mortifieurs style of play, did not suit us at all. So with us underestimating them, and them just pounding our bunkers, from start to finish, we lost our first game in Sunday club. They were the better team on the day for sure, and beat us 4-1.
So looking back at the event, it was actually quite good for us. We came 11th over all. It was quite and improvement over Malga where we came 19th. So considering we are a new team for 2010, and this is our first season together, did show some serious improvements.
Now we are looking ahead to the London event, and hopefully we can improve even more, and go even further.
